Pulmonary & Critical Care of Atlanta has been serving the Atlanta area since 1975, providing advanced care to patients with respiratory related illnesses, including lung cancer. Through the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute (NHCI), we are able to utilize innovative technologies to identify and treat cancers which affect the chest.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Early identification of this disease is important, because when patients are diagnosed early, they have a much more positive outcome compared to patients who do not receive an early diagnosis. NHCI is able to provide access to lung cancer screenings from more than 40 locations. The Lung Cancer Screening Program at NHCI is a recognized Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
NHCI is a recognized national leader in the treatment of lung cancer, including membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), and has received six consecutive Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Awards, reflecting the highest level of quality oncologic services. In addition, NHCI has also been awarded The Joint Commission® Gold Seal of Approval® for Lung Cancer Disease Specific Care (DSC), which reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. Northside Hospital is the first hospital in Georgia and one of only five hospitals in the United States to earn this distinction.
NHCI is able to provide a broad array of groundbreaking research through its participation in the National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). Also, as a member institution of the Addario Lung Cancer Medical Institute (ALCMI), our patients have additional access to broad-based lung oncology research through collaboration with renowned institutions from across the globe.
